Key Responsibilities

The Project Management Specialist will lead and support several core functions, including:

1. Project Design and Development

The incumbent will design and develop projects and initiatives aligned with UNAOC’s strategic priorities and Action Plan. This includes conducting needs assessments, stakeholder consultations, and drafting proposals, concept notes, and funding applications to secure financial and technical support.

2. Project Implementation and Monitoring

The role requires close oversight of project activities to ensure timely delivery within scope and budget. The Specialist will monitor progress, identify risks, propose corrective measures, and escalate issues when necessary.

Monitoring and evaluation of outcomes, documentation of lessons learned, and development of knowledge products such as toolkits and guidelines are also key components of the role.

3. Stakeholder Engagement

Collaboration is central to this position. The Specialist will coordinate with implementing partners, donors, beneficiaries, and stakeholders to ensure effective delivery and impact. Building strong external relationships and maintaining alignment with UN values and objectives is essential.

4. Financial and Operational Oversight

The incumbent will track financial and performance data, oversee contracts and supplier performance, and ensure compliance with UNOPS policies and donor requirements.

Required Qualifications and Experience

To qualify for this role, candidates must meet the following criteria:

  • An advanced university degree (Master’s or equivalent) in international relations, education, social sciences, human rights, public policy, or a related field with five years of relevant experience; OR
  • A bachelor’s degree with seven years of relevant experience.

Additional requirements include:

  • Proven experience in project support or management.
  • At least two years of experience working with international organizations or international NGOs.
  • Strong analytical and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Fluency in English.
