Key Responsibilities
The Communications Officer will be responsible for a broad range of strategic and operational tasks:
- Communications Planning and Strategy: Develop and implement communication plans for private sector partnerships and GWA initiatives that align with IOM’s global strategies and priorities.
- Content Creation: Draft, edit, and coordinate high-quality materials including press releases, op-eds, articles, videos, social media content, and partner-facing publications. Collaborate with editorial, digital, and multimedia teams to ensure compelling storytelling.
- Stakeholder Coordination: Serve as the focal point for communications within DMC for private sector engagement, translating objectives into clear, consistent, and impactful outputs.
- Brand Management: Maintain consistent application of IOM branding, tone, and messaging across all communication products, ensuring adherence to guidelines and editorial standards.
- Media and Event Support: Coordinate media coverage and provide communications support for private sector and GWA-related events, field visits, and public engagements.
- Media Relations and Monitoring: Research and pitch stories to relevant outlets, curate key visibility moments, and track media coverage. Support reporting on communications reach and engagement.
- Social Media Management: Monitor social media channels, identify emerging profiles for engagement, and amplify IOM’s work through storytelling and multimedia outputs.
- Monitoring & Evaluation: Support evaluation of communications initiatives, including tracking qualitative and quantitative impact, to inform strategic decision-making.
- Celebrity and Influencer Engagement: Use global accounts to reach out to Goodwill Ambassadors, celebrities, and influencers, ensuring alignment with IOM’s objectives and visibility goals.
- Additional Duties: Perform other tasks as assigned to support the goals of the Private Sector Partnerships Division and the Department of Media and Communications (DMC).

Required Qualifications and Experience
The ideal candidate will bring a combination of academic excellence and professional experience in communications and private sector engagement.
Education:
- Master’s degree in Communications, Journalism, Public Relations, or a related field with at least five years of relevant experience; or
- University degree with seven years of relevant experience.
Experience:
- Proven experience in private sector engagement, corporate communications, or donor relations, particularly within international or non-profit organizations.
- Expertise in content creation for digital media, social media, and websites.
- Experience in strategic communications, donor engagement, and audience mapping.
- Knowledge of private sector fundraising strategies and engagement initiatives.
- Experience with social media monitoring, analytics, and influencer engagement is an advantage.
Skills:
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, capable of crafting tailored messages for diverse audiences.
- Strong project management skills with the ability to handle multiple priorities and meet tight deadlines.
- Proficiency in content management systems, multimedia editing tools, and Microsoft Office Suite.
Languages:
- Fluency in English (oral and written) is required.
