IMPACT Initiatives Is Hiring a Research Manager in Nigeria – Apply Before 3 February 2026
In complex humanitarian settings, reliable data is the foundation of effective decision-making. IMPACT Initiatives, a Geneva-based non-governmental organization created in 2010, has built a global reputation as the largest independent data provider in crisis contexts. Working at the intersection of humanitarian response, stabilization, and development, IMPACT supports governments, donors, UN agencies, and NGOs to make informed, timely, and accountable decisions. The organization is now seeking a Research Manager for Nigeria, based in Abuja, offering a unique opportunity to lead high-impact research in one of the world’s most challenging humanitarian environments.
About IMPACT Initiatives
IMPACT operates through an initiative-based programming model, each designed to address specific evidence gaps. REACH strengthens humanitarian decision-making through high-quality data collection and analysis before, during, and after emergencies. PANDA focuses on improving programme design, assessments, and monitoring and evaluation to enhance humanitarian and development outcomes. AGORA promotes localized, multi-sectoral aid action to support recovery and stabilization in crisis-affected communities, working closely with local partners. Across these initiatives, IMPACT publishes more than 1,700 information products annually, making it a trusted reference point for evidence in crisis response.

Nigeria: A Complex Humanitarian Context
Nigeria faces overlapping and protracted crises. Insurgency in the Northeast involving ISWAP and Boko Haram has displaced millions and restricted access to essential services in Borno, Adamawa, and Yobe states. In the Northwest, rising criminality and kidnappings have disrupted livelihoods and education. Additional pressures include militancy in the Niger Delta, farmer–herder conflicts spreading southward, and separatist tensions in the Southeast. Against this backdrop, IMPACT has played a key role in delivering Multi-Sectoral Needs Assessments, Hard-to-Reach assessments, Area-Based Assessments, rapid assessments, WASH infrastructure mapping, famine monitoring, and market monitoring initiatives across multiple regions.

Strong analytical skills, familiarity with the aid system, and the ability to work independently in complex security environments are essential. Experience in West Africa is an advantage.
The position offers a 12-month contract starting 1 April 2026, with a competitive monthly salary ranging from 3,180 to 3,240 CHF, plus a living allowance, accommodation, insurance, travel benefits, and 36 days of annual leave. IMPACT also places strong emphasis on staff wellbeing, professional development, and psychological safety.
