Internship Overview

The intern will work within the Communications Section of the External Relations Service under the Division of Global Communications Service at UNHCR Caracas.
This is an on-site position with flexible working hours. Interns work either mornings (9:00 am–1:00 pm) or a split afternoon schedule totaling 20 hours per week.

What You’ll Be Doing
This role is ideal for someone creative, detail-oriented, and comfortable working across multiple digital platforms.
1. Content Production
You will create engaging content for platforms such as X (formerly Twitter), Instagram, YouTube, WordPress, and other UNHCR digital channels. Responsibilities include copywriting, video production and editing, photo editing, and crafting public information messages tailored to diverse audiences.
2. Digital Strategy & Campaigns
The intern will contribute to the implementation of social media strategies aligned with UNHCR’s communication objectives, helping amplify campaigns and increase engagement.
3. Community Management
Monitoring social media channels and responding to comments and messages will be part of your daily work. Strengthening online engagement and fostering meaningful interactions are central to the role.
4. Analytics & Reporting
You’ll track the performance of posts, identify high-engagement content, and support reporting efforts. There may also be opportunities to participate in content-gathering missions within the Caracas area.
Who Should Apply?
To be eligible, candidates must:
- Be a recent graduate (within two years of graduation) or a current student in an accredited undergraduate or graduate program.
- Have completed at least two years of undergraduate studies in a relevant field.
- Not have exceeded UNHCR’s maximum internship duration limits.
Desirable Skills and Qualifications:
- English proficiency at B2 level.
- Native Spanish speaker.
- Strong knowledge of social media and digital platforms.
- Expert user of Canva.
- Experience in video editing.

Financial Support and Travel

Interns are responsible for visa arrangements, residence permits, health insurance, and medical certification requirements.
