Since 2019, UNDP and Samsung Electronics have partnered to accelerate progress toward the Sustainable Development Goals through digital platforms.

Samsung Global Goals App

Launched in August 2019, the Samsung Global Goals App began in just two languages and has now expanded to over 80 languages worldwide. Installed on approximately 300 million Samsung devices, the app educates users about all 17 SDGs and enables them to contribute directly to UNDP’s development work through donations and awareness-building activities.

The app has dramatically expanded UNDP’s outreach, transforming everyday smartphone usage into meaningful global impact.

Generation17 Initiative

In 2020, the partnership evolved further with the launch of Generation17, a youth empowerment initiative designed to amplify the voices of young changemakers worldwide. Generation17 supports young leaders working across SDG-related issues — from climate action to quality education — by providing visibility, mentorship, and digital storytelling platforms.

As a Data Collection and Communication Intern, you will play an active role in supporting both initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

The intern will support Generation17 and the broader UNDP x Samsung partnership across communication, data organization, and digital engagement functions.

1. Support Generation17 Cohort Selection

• Assist with call-for-application processes
• Develop application forms
• Organize, filter, and structure incoming data
• Build structured Excel sheets for reporting

2. Communication and Content Development

• Draft communication materials in English
• Provide translations (Spanish or French preferred)
• Develop compelling storytelling content
• Draft social media copy for #Generation17 and Samsung Global Goals initiatives

3. Visual and Data Presentation

• Create high-quality PowerPoint presentations
• Develop structured reporting templates
• Prepare visual materials for engagement campaigns

4. Digital Content Collection

• Identify and compile blogs, stories, and videos from UNDP regional channels
• Update the fact and figures section of the Samsung Global Goals App
• Support website content updates

5. Youth Engagement Support

• Collaborate with the Youth Engagement Coordinator
• Develop the Monthly Opportunities Digest
• Identify engagement opportunities for Generation17 leaders

Education Requirements
