Role Overview

The Research Associate will play a key role in advancing digital innovations for agroforestry systems in India. The position focuses on developing and improving mobile applications, decision-support tools, and web platforms that provide practical solutions for farmers, policymakers, and stakeholders.

This is a consultancy position based in New Delhi, India, initially offered for 12 months, including a 6-month probation period. Renewal depends on performance, funding availability, and project needs.

Key Responsibilities

The role is divided into three major technical areas:

1. Mobile App Development

You will work on enhancing existing mobile applications by refining code, fixing bugs, and adding new features. Responsibilities include designing user-friendly interfaces, ensuring consistent UI/UX, and conducting various testing processes such as unit, integration, and user acceptance testing.

2. Decision Support Tools

A significant part of the job involves translating scientific research into interactive tools. You’ll develop algorithms and workflows that allow users to input data and receive actionable insights. Visualization tools such as dashboards, charts, and maps will also be created to make complex data easier to understand.

3. Web Portal Management

You will maintain and upgrade existing web portals while also building new ones using modern technologies or no-code/low-code platforms. Tasks include managing hosting services, ensuring system security, handling databases, and implementing version control systems.

Deliverables and Reporting

The selected candidate will be expected to deliver:

  • Updated mobile applications with enhanced features
  • Fully functional decision-support tools
  • Reliable and optimized web portals
  • Comprehensive documentation, including user guides and workflows

You will also submit monthly progress reports and a final comprehensive report by 25 May 2027, detailing all development work and outputs.

Required Qualifications

To be eligible, candidates should have:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, IT, Computer Engineering, Geoinformatics, or equivalent (MCA/M.Tech also accepted)
  • At least 1–2 years of relevant experience in software development

Candidates should demonstrate strong programming skills, familiarity with modern development tools, and the ability to translate technical concepts into user-friendly applications.
