BvAT bridges the gap between scientific research and practical farmer-led solutions through knowledge dissemination, training, and capacity building. About the IT Officer Position
The IT Officer will support the implementation of ICT systems and strategies across all BvAT offices while providing technical support to staff and ensuring effective management of information systems and technology infrastructure.
The position reports to the Human Resources and Admin Manager and does not supervise any staff.

Main Responsibilities
The selected candidate will play a key role in ensuring smooth ICT operations across the organization. Responsibilities include maintaining hardware and software systems, managing networks, supporting digital communication platforms, and assisting with cybersecurity and cloud-based systems.
Key duties include:
- Installing, maintaining, and repairing ICT hardware and software
- Managing network connectivity, LAN systems, and Wi-Fi infrastructure
- Supporting Microsoft 365 environments including Teams, SharePoint, OneDrive, and Outlook
- Providing technical support to staff in Nairobi and field offices
- Supporting webinars, conferences, virtual meetings, and organizational events
- Maintaining ICT inventories and supporting procurement processes
- Managing backups, disaster recovery procedures, and cybersecurity measures
- Supporting website management, hosting services, and digital platforms
- Designing branded communication materials and supporting multimedia initiatives
- Coordinating ICT vendors, consultants, and internet service providers
- Assisting with ERP systems and cloud-based collaboration platforms
The role also involves supporting organizational knowledge-sharing systems and promoting digital communication across departments.

Qualifications Required
Applicants should possess a Bachelor’s degree in:
- Computer Science
- Information Technology
- Information Systems
- Software Engineering
- Or another related ICT field
Professional certifications such as CCNA, CompTIA A+, Network+, Security+, Microsoft certifications, Azure Fundamentals, or ITIL certifications will be an added advantage.
Candidates should also have between three and five years of relevant professional experience in ICT support, systems administration, network management, and end-user support.
Skills and Competencies
BvAT is searching for an individual with strong technical and interpersonal skills. The ideal candidate should demonstrate expertise in:
- ICT infrastructure and systems administration
- Networking and cybersecurity
- Microsoft 365 administration
- LAN/WAN technologies and VPN configuration
