Key Responsibilities
Programme Management and Coordination
The consultant will support the planning and implementation of programme activities by developing work plans, timelines, and tracking tools. Responsibilities include monitoring progress against objectives, maintaining activity schedules, and coordinating internal meetings. The consultant will also assist with budget tracking, expenditure monitoring, and preparation of internal reports to ensure transparency and accountability.
In addition, the role involves contributing to quarterly and ad hoc progress reports, compiling data and analysis that reflect programme achievements, challenges, and lessons learned.
Communications and Knowledge Management
A core component of the role is strengthening programme communication. The consultant will support the development and execution of communication plans, ensuring that key messages are clear, consistent, and aligned with WFP’s communication standards. Required Qualifications and Experience
Candidates should hold an advanced university degree in Public Health, International Development, Social Sciences, Communications, Environmental Studies, or a related field. A combination of relevant academic training and professional experience will be considered.
Applicants are expected to have at least three to five years of professional experience in programme management, communications, or related roles within humanitarian, development, or public health contexts. Experience supporting multi-country or regional programmes, particularly in Africa, is highly desirable.
Strong analytical and organizational skills are required, along with excellent written and verbal communication abilities. Candidates should be comfortable working independently, managing multiple tasks, and meeting deadlines in a fast-paced, remote working environment. Fluency in English is essential, while knowledge of French or another UN working language is considered an advantage.
