Position Overview

The Legal Consultant role is a full-time, 6-month consultancy designed to support CARE during a period of strategic expansion. As the organization strengthens its digital capabilities and private sector partnerships, the Legal Department requires a skilled professional to guide complex legal processes and frameworks.

This position is ideal for someone with strong experience in corporate transactional law, international law, and technology law, combined with project management expertise. The consultant will act as both a strategic advisor and a hands-on contributor to key initiatives across the organization.

Key Responsibilities

One of the central responsibilities of this role is modernizing CARE’s legal policies and frameworks. The Legal Consultant will:

  • Draft, review, and update organizational policies to align with global legal standards and CARE’s strategic goals
  • Develop policies in emerging areas such as data privacy, AI governance, intellectual property, and technology procurement
  • Create templates and legal playbooks for private sector partnerships and innovative financing arrangements
  • Conduct policy gap analyses and design remediation plans
  • Deliver training sessions and guidance materials for staff across regions

The consultant will oversee CARE’s global legal entity operations, ensuring compliance across multiple jurisdictions. Responsibilities include:

  • Managing registrations, filings, and governance updates for existing entities
