About the Role
The Organizational Director is a key member of Greenpeace MENA’s Senior Management Team and reports directly to the Executive Director. This executive-level position provides strategic leadership across core organizational functions, including Finance, Human Resources, IT, Legal Services, and Office Administration. The role is fully remote, with candidates required to be based in Jordan, Egypt, or Tunisia.
At its heart, this position exists to ensure that Greenpeace MENA’s internal systems, people, and resources are strong, resilient, and aligned with the organization’s mission. By leading organizational operations and support services, the Organizational Director enables campaigners and program teams to focus on driving real environmental and social change across the region.

Overall Purpose and Strategic Scope
The Organizational Director is responsible for building and maintaining a high-performing organizational support department that meets both present and future needs. This includes developing policies, systems, and infrastructure that support day-to-day operations while also strengthening long-term organizational capacity.
In close collaboration with the Executive Director, the role provides financial leadership, vision, and oversight for Greenpeace MENA. As part of the Senior Management Team, the Organizational Director contributes to strategic decision-making, organizational planning, and governance, ensuring that internal operations fully support Greenpeace’s goals and values.

Key Responsibilities
This role carries a wide and influential portfolio. At an organizational level, the Director will guide the development, execution, and continuous improvement of systems and processes across finance, HR, IT, legal compliance, and office administration. Ensuring best practices in service delivery is essential, as the Organizational Support Department is expected to model excellence and reliability for the rest of the organization.
The Organizational Director also plays a critical role in governance and accountability. By generating accurate, data-driven reports, the role ensures that the Executive Director, Senior Management Team, and Board are fully informed of organizational performance. Compliance with legal and regulatory requirements is central, safeguarding staff, volunteers, and Greenpeace’s reputation across the region.
Engagement beyond the regional level is another important aspect of the role. The Director will participate in relevant global Greenpeace communities, ensuring alignment with international standards, policies, and initiatives while contributing regional insights to the wider movement.
Financial Leadership
Finance is a cornerstone of this position. The Organizational Director is responsible for developing and implementing all financial policies, procedures, and internal control systems for Greenpeace MENA. Working closely with the Finance Manager, the role ensures full legal and regulatory compliance while delivering robust accounting and financial management services.
The position oversees budgeting, forecasting, and financial projections, ensuring alignment with organizational strategy and plans. By analyzing financial trends and results, the Organizational Director provides clear insights and recommendations to senior leadership and the Board, supporting informed decision-making and long-term sustainability.
People & Culture
Beyond systems and numbers, this role is deeply people-centered. The Organizational Director provides strategic guidance on human resources planning and the development of organizational support functions. Together with the People & Culture Manager, the Director leads the development and implementation of Greenpeace MENA’s People Strategy.
This includes performance management, staff development, workplace culture, and the effective use of IT tools to support collaboration and productivity. The role also involves managing the Organizational Support Department team, setting objectives, supporting professional growth, and addressing personnel issues as they arise. Building trust, strong internal relationships, and a positive working environment is essential to success in this role.
Qualifications and Experience
Greenpeace MENA is seeking a highly experienced leader with a strong educational background in HR Management, Finance, Economics, or Business Management, or a related field. Candidates should bring more than 10 years of relevant professional experience, including at least 7 years in senior management or leadership roles, ideally within an international non-profit organization.
Experience working with multicultural senior teams, leading organizational change, and improving work culture and performance is essential. Strong management, negotiation, communication, and presentation skills are required. Fluency in English is essential, while Arabic or French is a strong advantage.
