Are you a bold, visionary designer passionate about feminist movements, storytelling, and social justice? The Urgent Action Fund Asia & Pacific (UAF A&P) is seeking a Visual Communications Facilitator to lead its creative direction and visual storytelling across platforms. This is more than a design role — it’s an opportunity to shape narratives that support women, trans, and non-binary human rights defenders across Asia and the Pacific.

About UAF Asia & Pacific

Urgent Action Fund Asia & Pacific (UAF A&P) is a feminist rapid response fund dedicated to supporting the resilience and resistance of movements led by women, trans, and non-binary activists. The organisation provides urgent grants and strategic support to strengthen the safety and well-being of defenders protecting people and the planet.

UAF A&P grounds its work in feminist values, collective care, relationship-building, and amplifying lived experiences of activists. The organisation supports rapid response grantmaking, strategic defender support, and knowledge building to shift narratives and resource resilience.

If you are inspired by art, strategy, and people-centered communication, this role is designed for you.

Key Responsibilities

Creative Direction

The selected candidate will:

  • Develop and maintain a consistent visual language across digital, print, and social platforms
  • Lead art direction for major projects such as annual reports, programmatic knowledge pieces, website content, and social media campaigns

UAF A&P produces rich feminist storytelling outputs — including annual learning reports and narrative-driven publications — meaning the facilitator will shape how movements are visually represented across the region.

Visual Storytelling & Collaboration

The role requires deep collaboration with programme teams, communications staff, and external creatives. You’ll help translate complex feminist ideas into accessible, powerful visuals that resonate with diverse audiences across Asia and the Pacific.

Strategic Alignment

The facilitator will ensure that all visual communications reflect UAF A&P’s feminist principles of care, solidarity, resilience, and narrative-shifting. This role bridges design excellence with political clarity.

Who Should Apply?

UAF A&P is looking for a skilled designer who:

  • Has strong experience in visual communications and art direction
  • Understands feminist movements, gender justice, and human rights contexts
  • Is comfortable working across cultures and time zones
  • Thrives in collaborative, remote environments
  • Brings creativity, strategic thinking, and attention to detail

The organisation encourages applications from women, trans, and non-binary professionals from across Asia and the Pacific, particularly from underrepresented or marginalised contexts.

This is not just a technical design role — it’s a political and relational one.

Work Environment & Structure

UAF A&P operates with a feminist co-leadership model and a distributed regional team. The Visual Communications Facilitator will work closely with:

  • The Strategic Communications Facilitator
  • Programme and leadership teams
  • External collaborators

As a feminist fund committed to collective care, UAF A&P prioritises collaboration, relationship-building, and adaptive learning.

Expect a dynamic, remote, multicultural work environment that values both creativity and care.

Why This Role Matters

Across Asia and the Pacific, women, trans, and non-binary human rights defenders face escalating political repression, climate crises, and shrinking civic space. Visual storytelling is not decorative — it is strategic.

Through publications, campaigns, and digital engagement, UAF A&P amplifies voices that are often marginalised in mainstream media. The Visual Communications Facilitator will help:

  • Shape regional feminist narratives
  • Strengthen movement visibility
  • Ensure aesthetic consistency and political integrity
  • Translate resistance and resilience into compelling visual form

If you believe design can be a tool for justice and solidarity, this role offers a powerful platform.

Application Details

Interested candidates should carefully review the full Terms of Reference and prepare application materials according to the organisation’s guidelines. Be sure to confirm application deadlines and submission instructions directly through the official UAF A&P platform.

Final Thoughts

This opportunity is ideal for creative professionals who want their work to support feminist movements and social transformation. The Visual Communications Facilitator will not simply design reports or social posts — they will help shape how resistance, care, and solidarity are seen and understood across Asia and the Pacific.

If you are ready to merge art, strategy, and activism — this is your moment.
