Agroecology Fund Is Hiring a Grants Lead: Help Power Global Movements for Resilient Food Systems (Apply by 20 February 2026)
The Agroecology Fund (AEF) has announced an exciting opportunity for experienced grantmaking professionals to join its global team as a Grants Lead. This role sits at the heart of AEF’s mission: mobilizing resources to strengthen agroecology movements and support resilient, equitable, and climate-just food systems around the world.
About the Agroecology Fund
The Agroecology Fund is a multi-donor fund dedicated to supporting grassroots agroecology initiatives globally. Its work focuses on advancing food systems that enhance economic and nutritional wellbeing while protecting human rights, biodiversity, and ecosystems. AEF prioritizes support for small-scale farmers, fishers, pastoralists, forest gatherers, Indigenous Peoples, and their communities—groups that are central to sustainable food production yet often under-resourced.
With a donor base of more than 50 contributors from the United States, Europe, and Asia, AEF blends the support of private philanthropic foundations with growing partnerships involving bilateral and multilateral donor agencies. The Fund operates with a small, decentralized, and fully remote team, offering a collaborative and dynamic work environment with real opportunities for leadership and global impact. AEF is fiscally sponsored by the Global Greengrants Fund and Trust Africa.

The Grants Lead Role
Grantmaking is the core function of the Agroecology Fund, and the Grants Lead plays a pivotal role in ensuring its effectiveness. Reporting to Co-Director Angela Cordeiro, the Grants Lead will manage global grantmaking operations while supporting regional agroecology funds in Mexico, India, and East and West Africa.
At the global level, the Grants Lead will oversee the full grant cycle, from refining grantmaking manuals and preparing annual grant calendars to managing online application platforms and coordinating proposal reviews. The role involves close collaboration with AEF’s Advisory Board, contractors, fiscal sponsors, and internal teams to ensure smooth workflows, compliance, and timely grant disbursements.
In addition, the Grants Lead will support regional grant teams by aligning annual grant calendars, offering advisory input, and helping improve grantmaking processes across regions. This balance of strategic oversight and hands-on coordination makes the role ideal for someone who thrives in complex, collaborative environments.
