About the Role
The Employee Relations and Safeguarding Lead will play a strategic leadership role within GAIN’s Human Resources team. The successful candidate will oversee employee relations frameworks and safeguarding systems while strengthening organizational culture, compliance, and staff wellbeing across multiple country operations.
This role combines operational leadership with strategic influence. The selected candidate will guide employee relations policies, manage safeguarding practices, and ensure the organization maintains a respectful, inclusive, and legally compliant workplace environment.
The role is ideal for experienced HR and safeguarding professionals who can confidently manage complex workplace issues while promoting positive organizational change.
Key Responsibilities
The Employee Relations and Safeguarding Lead will oversee a broad portfolio of responsibilities designed to strengthen staff support systems and organizational integrity. Key duties include:
- Leading the development and implementation of employee relations strategies
- Embedding organization-wide approaches to managing employee relations cases
- Supporting managers to strengthen leadership and people management capabilities
- Designing and delivering training on safeguarding, workplace harassment, diversity, and inclusion
- Overseeing safeguarding systems for reporting, investigation, and response mechanisms
- Building safeguarding communities of practice across the organization
- Reviewing and updating HR and safeguarding policies to align with legal requirements
- Monitoring labour law developments in countries where GAIN operates
- Promoting continuous improvement in safeguarding standards and practices
The successful candidate will also collaborate closely with Learning and Development teams to strengthen leadership effectiveness and workplace culture across global operations.

Salary and Benefits
GAIN is offering a highly competitive annual gross salary ranging from:
KES 6,236,928 – KES 7,127,928 per annum
