This role sits within the CORE Group Partners Project (CGPP), which supports community-based disease surveillance, immunization, and global health security initiatives in Kenya and Somalia.
About the CGPP Project
The CGPP works to strengthen prevention, detection, and response to infectious disease threats using a collaborative One Health approach that integrates human, animal, and environmental health.
In Kenya, activities are implemented in Turkana, Garissa, Marsabit, Lamu, Wajir, Mandera, and Kamukunji. The project also operates in Lower Juba, Gedo, and Bakool regions in Somalia.
Key Responsibilities
The Scientific Writer and Communication Manager will:
- Develop and implement a publication strategy.
- Identify operational research opportunities.
- Lead scientific manuscript development and submission.
- Publish articles in peer-reviewed journals.
- Prepare abstracts, policy briefs, and technical reports.
- Support monitoring, evaluation, and learning (MEL).
- Conduct literature reviews and data analysis.
- Train staff in scientific writing and documentation.
- Develop newsletters, bulletins, and communication materials.
- Produce success stories, case studies, and videos.
- Support grant proposal writing and donor reporting.
- Conduct field visits across Northern Kenya and Somalia border regions.

Qualifications Required
Candidates should have:
- Bachelor’s degree in Public Health, Medicine, or a related field.
- At least 7 years of scientific or medical writing experience.

- Knowledge of disease surveillance, immunization, and global health security.
