Role Purpose
The selected consultant will deliver technical support in climate-smart agriculture, agrometeorology, drought preparedness, anticipatory action, and biogas systems. The role is divided between two countries:
Kiribati
The consultant will focus on:
- Delivering climate-smart agriculture training.
- Leading the biogas training component.
- Reviewing existing biogas digesters installed in 2025.
- Solving technical issues affecting biogas systems.
- Supporting installation of a vinyl digester.
- Preparing a mission report.
Samoa
The consultant will:
- Conduct drought hazard mapping.
- Develop drought indicators and agricultural drought triggers.
- Strengthen early warning systems.
- Create standard operating procedures for drought preparedness.
- Train government staff and stakeholders.
- Conduct a study on remittances for anticipatory action.
- Support validation workshops.
Minimum Requirements
Applicants must meet the following criteria:
- University degree in Agriculture, Environmental Science, Science, or related fields.
- At least 3 years of experience in biogas systems.
- At least 2 years of experience in meteorology and agrometeorology.
- Minimum 5 years of experience providing technical advice to agricultural projects.
- Demonstrated project management experience.
- Strong stakeholder engagement and reporting skills.
- Working knowledge of English.
- Fluency in Samoan or I-Kiribati.
- Nationality of Samoa or Kiribati.
